Assistant Manager

  • Salary: £15.50 per hour (negotiable)
  • Location: Southend on Sea
  • Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

I am recruiting for an Assistant Centre Manager to enhance the sales, community engagement, operational, and financial performance of my client’s innovation centre. This role is integral to the network of centres that provide flexible workspace and business support services to start-ups and high-growth SMEs. The Assistant Centre Manager will work closely with the Centre Manager and the centre team to deliver exceptional service and drive the centre’s success.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Assist in operations and facilities management, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and maintaining the centre’s presentation.
  • Support the Centre Manager in financial management, including invoicing, debt management, budget planning, and financial reporting.
  • Contribute to the development of a community of entrepreneurs within the centre.
  • Able to communicate effectively, and engaging with relevant stakeholders and high-level contacts, ensuring our customers are looked after.
  • Manage assets, stock, inventory, and IT systems, ensuring GDPR and Money Laundering Regulations compliance.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality service and customer care, and oversee reactive maintenance issues.
  • In the absence of the Centre Manager, ensure competent employee presence for emergency procedures.
  • Assist with team management, including recruitment, development, and coaching to meet operational standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in the operational running of a facility similar to an Innovation Centre.
  • Leadership skills with experience managing a team in a service environment.
  • Excellent negotiation, administrative, and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders.
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and customer service-focused.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
  • IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office in particular Excel
