Assistant Accountant
Exeter, Devon
£35,000 per annum

Our client, a leading organisation in the South-west is currently looking to recruit an adept Assistant Accountant to join their growing team, on a full-time, fixed-term contract basis.

In your role as Assistant Accountant, you'll manage entries in the Fixed Asset Registers and other accounting records, conduct reconciliations, oversee control activities, offer accounting and administrative support to the team.

The responsibilities:

  • Maintain fixed asset records and conduct monthly reconciliations, aligning with capital work progress.
  • Review, approve reconciliations, manage depreciation, prepare entries, generate reports, and assist in depreciation reporting.
  • Ensure governance of capital project values, reconcile ledgers, and identify items for Fixed Asset Register.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers for accurate expenditure forecasts, aid in reporting, ensure cost allocation, and support comprehensive reporting.
  • Execute month-end tasks, review capital accruals for reasonableness.
  • Mentor apprentice, enhancing their understanding of accounting principles and task importance.

The candidate:

  • An AAT fully qualified individual, or someone in progress with ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualifications.
  • Previous experience with fixed asset registers.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial system software is also desirable.
  • Demonstrates methodical, accurate work with keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, proactive problem-solving abilities, and a positive, solution-oriented mindset.
