Assistant Accountant
Location: Tunbridge Wells
Job Type: Part-time (28 hours per week), Temp to Perm
We are currently supporting our client with an Assistant Accountant to join their team on a part-time basis. This temp to perm role is based in their Tunbridge Wells office, nestled in a rural location, therefore you would need to be able to drive.
Role & Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in:
- Assisting with monthly management reports and cash flow forecasting.
- Managing debtors, including credit control and customer monitoring.
- Updating and reconciling financial ledgers and resolving discrepancies.
- Preparing annual budgets and monthly contract profitability reports.
- Strengthening financial controls and ensuring adherence to GAP.
- Conducting bank and CIS return reconciliations.
- Ensuring HMRC compliance, particularly with VAT and CIS.
- Maintaining accurate records for audit purposes.
- Assisting Directors, Project Managers, and the Accounts team with various tasks.
- General office duties including answering calls and resolving issues.
Requirements & Skills:
- Accounting qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in accounting principles, budgeting, and analytics.
- Team player with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Experience with accounting software like Xero or QuickBooks.
- Construction industry experience is advantageous.
- Own transport is required due to the office’s rural location.
