Are you an experienced Accounts individual looking for a new challenge?

Reed accountancy Oxford are pleased to be partnering with an Oxford based charity to help source an Assistant Accountant to join their close knit team. This opportunity offers a salary of up to circa £30,000 per annum (based on experience), 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), pension, study support (case by case basis and after probation, EV salary sacrifice scheme, subsidised hot meals onsite, hybrid (after probation stage) & flexible working hours, onsite parking (first come, first serve) & a cycle to work scheme. This is a full time, permanent role.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of the Purchase Ledger (for the Charity and Trading Company).
  • Management of the Sales Ledger (for the Charity and Trading Company)
  • End-to-end responsibility for the weekly banking of cash and cheques.
  • Assist the Management Accountant in the completion of both bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Responsible for the accounting, reconciliation, and banking of donation receipts by liaising daily with the Fundraising Team
  • Provide guidance/understanding on financial matters. Provide financial analytical work in an accurate timely manner
  • Support the Management Accountant, Head of Finance and Director of Finance and ICT with projects and tasks as and when required.
  • Manage the petty cash including top-ups and monthly reconciliation.
  • Prepare, review, and accrue the monthly credit card transactions.
  • Prepare and process month end journals
  • Deputise for the Management Accountant during periods of absence
  • Review/redefine priorities of the Finance team, ensure workload of volunteers is appropriate. Continuously seek opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency, implement accordingly. Maintain effective communication with the wider team.
  • To assist and contribute to the development of computerised systems

The ideal candidate for this opportunity will have had experience in a similar role, and ideally be AAT qualified or studying. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and independently and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong Excel skills and being proficient on an accounting package, ideally Sage, is also required. You will also have to pass a DBS check.
