Assistant Accountant

Location: Southend-on-Sea

Salary: £36,000 - £38,000 per annum

Hours: 9am to 5:30pm

My client, a reputable global business, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their friendly and fast-paced team. This role is ideal for someone with a fair amount of experience in financial accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accuracy in all financial transactions.

Your role will include:

• Processing entries in the general ledger for the group on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Preparing control accounts.
• Managing bank accounts with inter-division and inter-company transactions.
• Assisting the FC with the preparation of management accounts.
• Conducting variance analysis and liaising with functional managers to correct.
• Reconciling bank accounts.
• Preparing VAT returns for the UK and overseas entities.
• Generating monthly credit exposure reports and weekly cash flow statements.
• Reviewing periodic stock reports.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Nearly qualified ACCA/CIMA (with 1 or 2 exams remaining).
• Proficiency in using SAGE 200 or an equivalent accounting package.
• Experience with ERP Systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to work to strict deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
