Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Salary: £40k + Discretionary Bonus Scheme
Hours: Mon - Fri, 9am - 6pm
Location: Central London. Hybrid, 3 days a week from home.
Summary
We are exclusively representing a well established, block management company based in Central London. Running for over 15 years, they run a bespoke block management service for a range of property investors and developers.
The role is broad, looking after AR, AP and Credit Control as well as getting involved in some management reporting and other ad hoc duties such as service charge too. You will work closely with the Group FC, CEO and a small team reporting to both landlords and freeholders. This role has an excellent opportunity to grow into an Finance Manager position.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable

Supplier invoice processing and account reconciliation.

Prepare and manage supplier payments

Managing remittance statements and enquiries in accounts inbox.

Prepare quarterly VAT return
Accounts Receivable and Credit Control

Allocate all funds received to relevant client accounts.

Collaborate with property management team to ensure accurate and timely rent and service charge billing and collection.

Prepare & issue monthly rental statements for Landlords to meet tight deadlines.

Credit control - producing monthly debtors reports, assisting with reviewing and
monitoring progress.

Handling queries from tenants and suppliers and all external agencies by telephone and in writing, in a professional, courteous and e[icient manner

Manage and maintain Service Charge funds & client accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations and industry standards.

Dealing with queries, escalating urgent matters if necessary.
Reporting

Conduct recurring tasks such as bank reconciliations (including client accounts) and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Manage inter-company and bank transfers.

Analyse the expenditure v budget, arrears and cashflow position, producing a
quarterly summary report.

Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial information to support decision-making.

Prepare end of year service charge accounts and packs within agreed timeframe, before submitting to external Accountants for review

Proven experience within a similar role, within Real Estate.

Experience with accounting systems, ideally Sage and strong knowledge of MS Office.

Solid understanding of real estate accounting principles and practices.

Must be able to work pro-actively, positively, efficiently and effectively.
