Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Assessor Trainer in Education & Childcare at our Haywards Heath campus. You will join us on a part time (14.8 hours per week), fixed term contract basisand in return, we will offer a competitive salary of Pro rata of £23,264 - £25,424 per annum (i.e. £9,305.60 - £10,169.60 pro rata).  

The Assessor Trainer in Education & Childcare role:

Are you an experienced and passionate Childcare or Early Years professional looking to share your skills with the next generation of teachers, nursery nurses and child carers? Haywards Heath College is recruiting for an Assessor Trainer in Education and Childcare to join our team and help shape our students' future careers by supporting their development of vocational competence and the wider skills that relate to employability.

This role is initially being offered on a fixed term part time basis, but there may be opportunities for a permanent role going forward, plus the opportunity to work with other campuses within the college group. We are also open to applicants who would prefer to perform the duties of this role on a variable hours basis in order to work around other work/life commitments.

Key Responsibilities of ourAssessor Trainer in Education & Childcare:

  • Supporting the learners’ development of vocational competence and the wider skills that relate to employability.
  • Training and/or assessing learners within the relevant vocational area to awarding organisation standards in a timely manner.
  • Applying relevant initial and diagnostic assessment to individualised training plans.
  • Agreeing a training programme of development and assessment in partnership with the employer, setting realistic but challenging goals that meet the learners’ and employers’ needs, and include on and off the job training where required.
  • Actively listening, providing feedback and engaging learners in planning their individualised training programme through coaching and mentoring; supporting the delivery and acheivement of additional qualifications as required.
  • Assessing learners’ competence in relation to work-related/industry standards.
  • Providing workbased practice of the assessment instruments in the EPA where required, give timely and constructive feedback on assessment outcomes and progress, review and set new targets with candidates.
  • Completing relevant documentation in an accurate and organised manner, ensuring candidates are monitored and assessed against awarding body standards.
  • Meeting regularly with relevant curriculum and pastoral staff to ensure candidate progress is updated.
  • Attending regular standardisation/team meetings, as required.

Our ideal Assessor Trainer in Education & Childcare should have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Level 3 (or above for higher and degree apprenticeships) subject sector relevant qualification
  • Level 3 Assessor Award (TAQA or equivalent)
  • Level 3 Teaching Award in Education
  • Coaching and/or Mentoring Award
  • Relevant and recent vocational experience in the relevant industry sector
  • Working knowledge of the relevant vocational area
  • Commitment to equal opportunities, customer care and quality assurance
