Job Description: Assembly & Inspection Operator
Duration: Temp to perm, salary to be confirmed.
Location: Hitchin
Pay rate: up to £12 per hour.

Main Duties:
1. Responsible for carrying out specific assembly, inspection and packing orders including: meeting priorities set by Team Leader; o operating assembly equipment correctly and handling parts correctly to avoid damage; cleaning, inspecting, packing and labelling parts ensuring assembly, inspection and packing work is completed to program including ensuring correct quantities packed and parts match order requirements.
2. Responsible for ensuring product quality standards for content, packaging and labelling are met through understanding of inspection criteria and knowledge of product range.
3. Responsible for inspecting assembled products against established criteria.
4. Responsible for contributing to development and improvement of processes and working practices with regards to the production of Portman Door products to support continued growth within this area.
5. Responsible for ensuring good product range and component knowledge acquired.
6. Responsible for monitoring stock levels and advising of any discrepancies.
7. Responsible for liaison with other members of the production team and with other functions as necessary to achieve maximum production effectiveness and efficiency and to satisfy customer needs.
8. Undertake other tasks, including work within other sections, as requested by Team Leader and/or Production Manager within limits of capability and training.
9. Ensure that work is conducted in a safe environment according to safe practices, by keeping shelves, pallet area and workstations neat and tidy – report deviation from H&S good practice immediately
Essential:
• Good level of English both written and spoken.
• Other relevant qualifications Relevant experience
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an assembly/ inspection working environment/ or warehouse environment within the manufacturing industry.
• 1 year experience of planning and prioritising to meet tight deadlines.
• Experience of working unsupervised.
Aptitude, skills, and abilities:
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements relating to production environment.
• Understanding of Inspection procedures & standards.
• Good communication skills with the ability to communicate and liaise effectively at all levels within the Company.
• IT proficiency with ability to input and retrieve data.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
