The school cater for students from 5 to 11 years old with complex needs, including moderate and severe learning disabilities (MLD/SLD). Their vision, values and aims are embedded by pupils, parents, Governors and colleagues to enable as much inclusion in society as possible. The school and staff aim to give their pupils the skills and experience so that they can find meaningful employment, be that paid or voluntary. The curriculum is highly personalised and creative, they aim to develop pupil voice throughout all the activities and lessons.

The school are looking for a Art Specialist, you will be working in the Art room with a range of ages and needs. It is important that you not only have experience working with SEN but also have a basic knowledge and love for Art.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting within the Art classroom
  • Collaborating with teachers and other staff to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students
  • Assisting with communication needs and promoting positive behaviour
  • Supporting students with physical and emotional needs

Essential requirements:

  • Experience supporting young people with special needs, ASC / MLD / SLD
  • Previous support work, TA or LSA work within a school or other child related experience.
  • Enthusiastic, positive and friendly approach.
  • A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
  • Must have legal right to work in the UK.
