Area Sales Manager / Sales Engineer Manager

South East

£ Excellent + Achievable 20% Bonus

The Opportunity:

Working for a successful global manufacturer, you will be responsible for implementing successful strategies to assist with continued YOY overall double-digit growth which the organisation has reported over the previous 4 years. As a key member of the UK Sales Team, you will support their vision to become number one in the UK & Ireland, underpinned by £40m of R&D expenditure.

Key Tasks:

  • Identify new business opportunities within the sales territory and use existing database and own prospecting to grow sales.
  • Develop, implement, and update as necessary a customer-centric business action plan aimed at growing sales and influence in the area to achieve ambitious sales growth.
  • Liaise with colleagues in Business Development, Inside Sales and Applications to maximize opportunities and improve customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Track new prospects, develop relationships, and facilitate the quoting or formal tender and procurement process right through to contract signing, implementation and go live into the operation.
  • Contribute to the design, production and effective delivery of high-quality sales presentation and proposals from engineering to board level for prospective customers in accordance with agreed guidelines
  • Provide and distribute approved marketing materials with the aim of securing sales visits.
  • Build awareness of market trends and competitor products/activity
  • Use existing data base and own prospecting to grow sales.
  • Work with existing customers to maximize business opportunities.
  • Maintain sales pipeline and forecasting tool.
  • Keep the CRM and other reporting requirements updated.
  • Build, utilize and communicate with key internal and external stakeholders within the business to continuously improve your understanding and knowledge of the solution offerings.
  • Plan and prepare monthly presentation for Sales Meetings, to report business to date and forecast data.
  • Work in accordance with all health and safety instructions - your safety and health are paramount. Always report any unsafe conditions, accidents or near misses.

Travel Requirements:

  • Regular UK - primarily within sales territory
  • Infrequent travel within EMEA region for meetings/training

Qualification(s) and Experience:

  • Professional qualification in Electrical /Mechatronic/ Mechanical Engineering. Degree/HND.
  • Strong commercial background in selling industrial products
  • Appreciation of the technical capabilities of products and the ability to sell their advantages
  • New business development experience
  • Drive and motor application knowledge would be advantageous.

  • Excellent preparation, opening, presenting, questioning, negotiation and closing skills
  • Good relationship builder inside and outside the organisation
  • Strong technical background.
  • Have experience working with OEM’s and a detailed understanding of the design process.
  • IT literate and confident with MS Office applications and use of mobile communications.

  • Excellent presentation skills.
