Architect / Architectual Technologist

Location: Loughton, IG10

Salary: Negotiable, dependent on qualifications and experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to work closely with the managing director of a property development company on projects in North East London/West Essex.  

The Role

In this role, you will be expected to provide first class support in drawing up plans for various schemes, as well as to oversee individual sites, procurement, and ensure that tasks are completed by contractors on time and on budget.  The role will be based both within the office and at the various project sites working alongside the lead architect.

The role requires proficiency with AutoCAD, Sketchup. Revit and Abode Acrobat software skill are required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with property manager, senior architect, and technologist to produce and achieve successful outcomes to projects.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as architect/technologist
  • Reporting to the managing director as required
  • Production of detail drawings in order to submit a planning application
  • Production of detailed drawings for building control
  • Production of detailed and accurate drawings for trades and building contractors
  • Production of 3D rendered images.
  • Provide, revise, and finalise detailed architectural drawings for various building projects
  • Liaise with planning consultants, and, where applicable, heritage specialists to obtain consent for schemes and ensure that all legal requirements are met.
  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders, to include structural engineers.
  • Design high quality, workable interiors, to include maximum energy efficiency.
  • Oversee procurement of materials and their use/installation by contractors within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Setting budgets/targets for work to be undertaken and liaising with site managers with regards to achieving targets and any variances occurring.
  • Day-to-day management of internal and external contractors.
  • Preparing weekly/monthly task lists for contractors.
  • Daily site visits.
  • Quality assurance – ensure that good quality materials and workmanship are provided at the best possible price.  This includes the reviewing of work completed by others and ensuring accountability for any poor quality work.
  • Take ownership of projects from inception to completion
  • Other tasks reasonably requested by senior management

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant UK architectural qualifications
  • Proven ability to express ideas clearly and effectively orally, graphically, and in writing
  • Excellent written and verbal English
  • Readiness to work flexibly to get the job done – no job too big or small
  • Willing to work in fast paced environment.
  • Working flexibly to achieve set task and deadlines.
  • Ability to build strong professional relationship with others at all levels of the business
  • Experience leading and managing a team on a day-to-day basis
  • Ability to work proactively under own initiative and to take ownership of tasks allocated to them
  • Clean UK driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles
  • Clear understanding of UK planning regulations (including within heritage buildings) (desirable)
  • Experience of 3 years in a similar role (desirable)
