3 Level 2 Apprentice Supply Chain Warehouse Operatives (Line Feeders) are required by our client in Newton Aycliffe. The Line Feeders will support the logistics department in production line feeding, ensuring the production lines maintain a reasonable stock level at all times. They must be prepared in advance for production line changers and ensure the change is completed efficiently with no down time. Duties include: learning how to operate counterbalance/reach trucks, powered pallet trucks, ride on pallet trucks, order pickers, narrow aisle pickers, mobile elevated work platforms and forklift trucks.

The apprentices will:

  • Learn how to operate counterbalance/reach trucks, powered pallet trucks, ride on pallet trucks, order pickers, narrow aisle pickers, mobile elevated work platforms and forklift trucks.
  • Make conscious decisions when in the workplace to minimise the effect their work (and the wider industry) has on the environment, they will need to maintain a high level of housekeeping and manage waste effectively; use packing materials efficiently to reduce waste and costs; and understand the consequences of not using or disposing of these correctly.?
  • Carry out safe use of equipment and machinery (such as MHE, vehicle and delivery systems) and know where to find instructions/guidance. Understand the consequences of incorrect use.?
  • Be able to use warehouse systems and processes relating to packaging, moving stock and receiving stock (e.g., Load Container Lists) within a warehouse environment to facilitate the safe handling of goods. Ensure an effective and efficient service is provided to internal/external customers.?
  • Have basic IT, technology and system skills, including warehousing management, data capture, radio, and barcoding systems to ensure the safe and efficient processing of goods.?
  • Relevant regulation and legislation (including international where relevant to role) governing the supply chain industry, their subsector and role in particular; understand the consequences of not adhering to legal guidelines.?
  • Ensure effective communication with customers that store goods with the company/colleagues (including those working remotely, third party carriers, agencies, and other organisations) in line with situation and organisational style/culture.?
  • Understand the structure of the industry; methods and modes of transport; roles available within the sector in general and in relation to their own career aspirations.?
  • Understand the importance of delivering excellent customer service to customers and colleagues, including identifying needs and responding appropriately in line with situation and organisational style/culture.?
  • Understand the importance of the organisations reputation and what can affect it, for example understanding the organisations vision, objectives an brand along with how their own performance can contribute to organisational success and support or impact on others.?
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • By the end of the 12 months, the apprentices will have gained a Learning Level 2 Supply Chain and Warehouse qualification.
  • Bespoke training will be delivered onsite.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Successful completion of the appreticeship programme could lead to a permanent position with the company.

This is an apprenticeship position, paying £12.48 per hour for the first 12 weeks, then £13.89 per hour thereafter.
