What you will do:           

  • A Building systems engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the buildings environment is running efficiently. You will design, install, manage and commission systems that monitor the buildings energy management and provide information on the buildings performance.
  • You will learn how to design, commission & execute highly technical building management control solutions for our control systems.
  • Our building automation systems are the foundations of modern building energy management efficiency. Intelligent, world-class technology systems will connect your commercial HVAC, lighting, security, and protection systems. This enables them to communicate on a single platform to deliver the information allowing companies to improve building efficiency.
  • Gain knowledge and be proficient in Johnson Controls manufactured products and software. Understand Mechanical & Electrical systems.
  • You will develop project plans and coordinates the required resources to ensure timely and cost effective installation and completion of assigned projects.
  • You will be enrolled on a level 6 electrical instrumentation qualification at Solas. You will also receive excellent on-the-job work experience from your assigned mentor.
  • Further opportunities await as experience is gained in being able to diagnose, solve technical problems in both software & hardware, advice to customers on energy efficiencies utilising Johnson Controls energy management software.

Training and Qualifications:

  • You will be enrolled on a level 6 electrical instrumentation qualification at Solas. This apprenticeship is a 4-year program consisting of 7 phases. 4 on-the-job and 3 off-the-job in a training facility.

Career Progression:

  • Upon completion, a number of internal opportunities within the company will be available to you. All of our apprentices immediately move into full time permanent positions.

Qualifications Required:

  • Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) at Grade O4 minimum - in Math, English, Science and IT/CDT or equivalent.
  • Full Driving Licence is essential.

  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to improve.
  • Availability to travel regularly as this is a field-based role.
  • Comfortable working at heights.

What happens next?

  • Suitable candidates will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position and provide necessary documentation. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre in May, assessment centres typically include a combination of activities such as group problem-solving tasks, individual interviews, and presentations.
  • Within 48 hours of the assessment centre, candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can begin the apprenticeship in August 2024.
