Elevation Recruitment Group have the pleasure of working on a retained basis with a leading chemical engineering business in the recruitment of an Applications Lead to join their facility in Leeds.

Our client is at the forefront of innovation and sustainability and are recognised for being pioneers in their field, specialising in the development of cutting-edge solutions across a wide range of industries.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead and develop a multi-disciplined group of engineers and will be responsible for best in class problem solving and technical delivery.

Duties of the Applications Lead will include:

- Ensure ownership and accountability for technical problem solving and project delivery is at the heart of the technical team
- Using knowledge and experience in the chemicals industry to generate and execute projects, and produce / approve technical, commercial documentation support to deliver the agreed innovation pipeline with value for the business.
- Develop training Packages for internal and external use.
- Support the Head of Technical, to ensure planning and management of allocated budget, within pre-agreed tolerances, whilst delivering agreed pipeline of new products and services, on-going maintenance, and existing products enhancement.
- Manage and report progress of key development projects for the different segments working cross functionally
- Stay abreast of the competitive landscape and latest developments across industries.
- To lead technical contribution of Strengths, Opportunities, Threats and Weakness for building strategic plans for NPD (New Product Development), Technical Road Map and CBI (Customer Backed Innovation). 
- Communicate effectively and ensure a level of customer focus mindset and a capability to have a commercial approach with customers, suppliers, and distributors.
- Set a culture which ensures both direct and indirect report teams are motivated and engaged. Work with individuals to implement tailored personal development plans, with regular 1:1s, performance reviews and coaching standards.
- Ensure compliance, both individually and for direct report, with all company regulatory, and health and safety procedures and guidelines.

Education and experience:

- Degree education in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related Engineering discipline.
- Knowledge of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) quality requirements skills gained in similar work (or dissimilar but relevantly skilled work).
- Awareness of REACH, CLP, ISO 21469, NSF, AS9100.
- Awareness of the significance and impact of robust project management in a scientific and commercial context
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent commercial awareness in the context of technically focussed organisations.
- Experience working with external suppliers and distributors.

Desirable
- CEng or PhD in scientific field
- Other additional qualifications will be considered and appreciated.
- Project management certification.
- Microsoft office package skill to advanced level.
- Knowledge of French and/or German in a technical/ business context
