Airfreight Operator Job Summary:

As an Airfreight Import and Export Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the transportation of goods via airfreight, ensuring timely delivery, compliance with regulations, and efficient customs clearance. You will liaise with clients, carriers, and customs authorities to facilitate smooth import and export processes. The role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of international trade regulations.

Airfreight Operator Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Import and Export Operations: Manage the end-to-end airfreight import and export processes, including booking cargo space, arranging pickups, and coordinating delivery schedules.

  • Customs Clearance: Ensure compliance with customs regulations and documentation requirements for both import and export shipments. Prepare and submit necessary documentation, including customs declarations, invoices, and certificates of origin.

  • Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on shipment status, resolving issues, and addressing any concerns or inquiries promptly and professionally.

  • Carrier Coordination: Liaise with airlines, freight forwarders, and other transportation providers to negotiate rates, track shipments, and resolve any transportation-related issues.

  • Documentation Management: Maintain accurate records of all import and export transactions, including shipping documents, customs declarations, and compliance certificates.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changes in import/export regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements to ensure compliance and minimize risk for the company and its clients.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with airfreight shipments, such as delays, damages, or customs disputes, by implementing appropriate measures and contingency plans.

  • Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of airfreight services provided by carriers and vendors, addressing any issues or discrepancies to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Cost Management: Optimize transportation costs by evaluating shipping routes, carrier options, and service levels to achieve the most cost-effective solutions for clients while maintaining service quality.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost savings within the airfreight import/export operations, and implement best practices accordingly.
