Our client is looking to expand the Airfreight operations team based in Heathrow, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful Independent Global freight forwarder.
The role and common goals
- Develop and build relationships to ensure a high level of customer service is provided to clients.
- Build strong working relationships with suppliers, airlines & overseas partners/agents.
- Input and check costs and sales, securing payment where no credit is in place.
- Communicate effectively with operations colleagues.
- Create and maintain customer standard operating procedures.
- Communication with overseas agents and clients is clear precise and effective.
- Accurate & timely reporting to department Manager.
- Take ownership of own training and development so as to continuously improve and develop, including training new starters where required.
- Take ownership and accountability to deliver operational excellence
- Ensure that a 'customer is king’ ethos is applied at all times
- Respond to all communications within the hour
- Promptly and efficiently communicate any issues, queries and concerns to the dept supervisor and manager without delay.
- A 'cando’ attitude is applied with all communications
- Metro’s policies are followed at all times unless otherwise agreed by management
Key Performance Areas
- Response to clients is timely and accurate
- Accurate and Timely creation and issuance of deliveries and documentation
- Airline storage is never incurred for Metro’s account.
- Freighting / Rating accuracy and timing meets the company policies
- Purchase Queries are responded to within the company policy time frames
- Costs and Sales are known, controlled and managed
- Operational Reports and followed and anomalies escalated
- Country specific requirements observed and applied
General Skills
- Industry and operational knowledge of Airfreight - import, export, and cross trade
- Able to cope and accustomed to working under pressure to meet fixed deadlines
- Strong numerical and commercial skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent usage of computer / operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office) (Cargowise- preferable)
- Proactive, team worker with excellent time management and organisation skills
- Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated
- May be required to work some overtime and/or be flexible in start/finish times (during busier times!)
