The salary for this permanent Acute Specialist Physiotherapist job is £35,392 - £42,618 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Provide high-standard physiotherapy services across acute inpatient settings, including Emergency Department, Acute wards, and critical care.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with diverse diagnoses and complex needs, utilising evidence-based and patient-centered principles.
  • Serve as an expert resource on medical and surgical conditions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support other disciplines, agencies, and carers through specialist knowledge development and educational contributions.
  • Act in the best interest of patients under care.
  • Conduct advanced physiotherapeutic assessments and develop individualized treatment programs.
  • Manage own caseload autonomously, with access to supervision and support as needed.
  • Participate in on-call and weekend duties, and mentor new staff.
  • Assist in student supervision, mentorship, and team performance management.
  • Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to enhance clinical practice.
  • Deputise for the Physiotherapy Team Leader in operational management.

Requirements of the Acute Specialist Physiotherapist:

  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy with HCPC Registration.
  • Relevant experience in acute wards within NHS services.
  • Continued Professional Development demonstrating ongoing learning and expertise.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and delegate tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient interaction, interdisciplinary collaboration, and education.
  • Proficiency in IT for record-keeping and data management.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs of the service and contribute to policy development.
