Reed Accountancy is excited to collaborate with a globally recognised firm to find a seasoned Head of Accounts Receivable. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in billing, debt recovery, and cash collection operations. This role is crucial for managing a significant debt portfolio and achieving monthly cash targets. We are looking for someone with consultancy experience, ideally in an engineering environment, who can demonstrate outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills.

Location: This is a remote position with occasional travel required across the UK.

Responsibilities of the Head of Accounts Receivable include:

  • Cash and Debt Management: Oversee cash collection, manage UK debts, meet monthly cash targets, and forecast cash. Report cash and debtor activities to the treasury team by division.
  • Debtor KPIs and Debt Recovery Supervision: Manage debtor KPIs, attend debt meetings, handle disputes, and oversee debt recovery and litigation.
  • Credit Risk Advisory and Team Motivation: Provide advice on credit risk, motivate the team, and resolve disputes promptly.
  • Compliance Assurance and Team Management: Oversee cash handling and write-offs for policy adherence. Lead UK project billers and analysts, guiding global teams.
  • Billing and Service Delivery Optimisation: Ensure accurate project billing, collaborate with managers for optimisation, and continuously improve billing processes and services.

To thrive as the Head of Accounts Receivable, you will need:

  • Deep understanding of Civil Procedure Rules, Civil Claims, and Contract Law.
  • Experience in a debt recovery environment, preferably within a construction setting.
  • Proficiency in IT, especially Microsoft Excel, and experience with cash collection or case management software.
  • Strong negotiation, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance debt recovery action with commercial and cost risk.
  • Leadership skills with the confidence to communicate and support across all levels of the business.
