THE BUSINESS
 
Westray Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with our client based in Cramlington who are seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant. Reporting to the AP Team Leader, the postholder will be responsible for handling the full cycle of accounts payable activity from processing, tracking, and recording invoices through to processing payment in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. This role covers our invoicing from across EMEA, working closely with our European teams.
 
 
 
THE ROLE
  • Verifying vendor invoices and ensuring they are approved before processing them for timely payment.
  • Resolving all invoice/purchase order queries and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Running both the domestic and foreign payment runs, and associated file creations for upload to the bank.
  • Reconciling vendor accounts to ensure that all invoices have been correctly accounted for and investigating discrepancies.
  • Maintaining the GR/IR clearing account to reduce the risk of accounting errors.
  • Setting up new vendor accounts and amending existing vendor details as necessary.
 
THE PERSON
  • At least 2 years previous experience in a similar Accounts Payable role, with prior experience of working with SAP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately with different stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills including the ability to work to meet deadlines and prioritise workloads where necessary.
  • The ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and flexible approach to work.
  • The ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team.
  • English language skills are essential and additional European language skills would be a distinct advantage.
  • Junior level experience would be considered
