Accounts Assistant

NXTGEN are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join a very successful firm of accountants based in Peterborough. This new role will provide additional support to the existing general practice team following a sustained period of business growth, working in a supportive, collaborative and close knit team. The Accounts Assistant will support with a range of tasks for a mixed SME portfolio including monthly and annual submissions for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Ltd companies. You will also prepare VAT returns for registered clients as well as gaining the opportunity to support with basic tax computations. As you gain confidence within the role, you will also have the opportunity to identify advisory points for clients, adding value to clients whenever the opportunity arises. The Accounts Assistant can expect to work alongside an experienced team with great opportunities to learn from those around you, for a firm that champion excellent levels of customer service.

The successful candidate will ideally hold or will be working towards their AAT qualification and will have prior experience working within another accountancy firm. A full study package is available for those who are still progressing with their qualification. You will have a good working knowledge of cloud accounting packages (Xero, Quickbooks etc) and will be confident providing support to clients on queries. A good working knowledge of year end submissions and VAT returns is desirable given the nature of the role. Given the success and growth of the firm, good progression prospects are available including opportunities to progress onto ACA/ACCA studies. The salary offered for this role is available dependant on experience and qualification.
