Accounts Assistant

Annual Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

Location: Colchester (Mersea)

Job Type: Full-time



We are looking for a dedicated Accounts Assistant to manage our purchase ledger, sales ledger, PAYE, and bank reconciliations. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and enjoys working within a structured environment to support our financial operations.

Day-to-day of the role:

Managing the purchase ledger to ensure that all invoices are processed accurately, and payments are made on time.

Handling the sales ledger, including issuing invoices and following up on outstanding payments.

Overseeing PAYE processes and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.

Performing bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

Assisting with month-end closing procedures and preparing financial statements.

Collaborating with the finance team to improve financial processes and controls.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper.

Strong understanding of bookkeeping practices and accounting principles.

Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Competitive salary range of £28,000 - £30,000 per annum.

Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
