Our client is a modern online accountant in Colchester providing support for businesses, partnerships, sole-traders and self-employed businesses in Essex. Their team provide jargon-free, value-added services. Due to an increase in workload across the team, they are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant / Semi-Senior who is looking to bring ideas to their practice.

Accounts Assistant / Semi-Senior

Up to £28k Basic Salary (DOE) | Mon-Fri 9-5:30 (flexibility in hours offered, part-time considered) | Hybrid working | Forward-thinking accountancy practice | Xero software experience | Practice experience preferred | AAT Level 4 preferred

Using digital processes to run a paperless office, this role would suit a candidate looking to move away from the traditional set up; with onsite parking and flexible working hours also available.

Your duties will include managing a portfolio of clients, ranging from sole traders through to limited companies.

Duties (include but are not limited to):

  • Preparing year-end accounts and financial statements
  • Personal and corporate tax return preparation
  • Client bookkeeping and management accounts
  • VAT returns
  • Prompt client contact and liaison providing a top-class service, going the extra mile
  • Supporting the Director with new ideas for best practice and forward-thinking accounting

Person Specification:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience within a practice environment, now looking to take the next step in managing their own portfolio.
  • You will ideally have completed the AAT Level 4 qualification, or similar.
  • Experience of Xero would be preferred.
