My client, a busy and fast-paced real estate company, is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join the finance team as an Accountant. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of entities and contribute to the success of the organization.

This is a permanent and full-time role, based in Kings Cross. This is a hybrid role, 3-days in office and 2-days from home. The salary for this position is £50,000 - £55,000 DOE.

Previous experience within real estate / property is essential.

My client, a busy and fast-paced real estate company, is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join the finance team as an Accountant. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of entities and contribute to the success of the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Ownership and control of financial ledgers for each entity, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records are in place.
  • Perform weekly cashbook postings and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Raise sales invoices and credit notes, including intercompany recharges, in advance of applicable month/quarter end.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations by working day 5 of the month.
  • Generate payments and cash transfers on online banking systems on a monthly basis and as required.
  • Set up new bank accounts, including rent deposits, as required.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet control, including reviewing debtors, creditors, and work in progress balances.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly management accounts and other quarter-end reporting outputs.
  • Support year-end procedures, including populating lead schedules, locating supporting documentation, and posting journals.
  • Ensure all leasing activity completed each quarter is appropriately reflected in the management accounts and financial statement reporting.
  • Prepare actual vs. forecast reconciliation analysis for journal entry cash postings.
  • Provide rent analysis of cash received into accounts and proactively chase outstanding debts.
  • Support external audits by communicating with auditors and providing requested information.
  • Proactively champion the finance system and drive system improvements.
  • Liaise with managing agents for posting ground rental income and review monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Champion the property management database system and ensure accurate reflection of sales activity.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns and process monthly CIS reporting to HMRC.
  • Manage internal cash transfers and set up ad hoc payments as required.
  • Review daily bank account balances and identify any areas of concern.
  • Assist in the review and implementation of internal control and system improvements.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
  • Proactive in identifying and flagging issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and influence others.
  • Demonstrable track record of taking responsibility for financial transactions and challenging established processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Confidence in discussing finance matters at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify issues and present solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to view the bigger picture.
  • Ability to learn and apply learnings across different projects and entities.
