Accountant - Newly Qualified
Global Hospitality business in Central London are looking for a Newly Qualified Accountant (0-3 years) to join the team. Based in London (2 from home and Tues-Thurs in the office)
We are seeking a motivated and analytical Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with the Group Accountant to ensure the accuracy and timely completion of the group’s financial statements, as well as other statutory obligations such as tax filings.
In this role, you will also play a pivotal role in optimizing our operations by reviewing, standardising, documenting, improving and then automating existing and future financial processes. You will be a key driver of innovation, leveraging your accounting knowledge to improve accuracy, reduce costs, and free up valuable time for our team.
This role is based in London and reports into the Group Accountant.
The finance team is approximately 20 people (across the various global locations). To ensure it maintains a strong controlling environment, they are keen to optimize and standardise operations that will scale with the growth of the business. The successful candidate will help realise this by playing a key role in identifying processes suitable for automation and monitoring processes once automated. The successful candidate will also look to assist with monthly and annual reporting tasks.
Responsibilities:
BAU
- Annual audit: reporting and analysis as required by the auditors and assisting with the preparation of the annual financial statements.
- Monthly management accounts: variance analysis and review and investigation of balance sheet reconciliations.
- BAU processes:
- The candidate will also be expected to support existing reporting and controlling activities as part of the month/year end process e.g:
- Prepare and analyse financial data, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Assist with the consolidation process, including intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and adjustments.
- Assist with the month-end closing process for assigned entities.
- The candidate will also be expected to support existing reporting and controlling activities as part of the month/year end process e.g:
Projects
- Process Analysis: Analyse existing month end financial processes, identifying areas for improvement and automation potential. This will include working with existing finance staff to understand and document current processes, identifying any inconsistencies between regions and determine how to standardise.
- Cost/Benefit Analysis: Work with RPA delivery partners to assess if processes will benefit from automation.
- Automation Implementation/Test: Lead the implementation of automation solutions for identified processes, working collaboratively with RPA delivery partners.
Qualifications:
- Accounting qualification preferred (ACA/ACCA)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an accountancy role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (vlookup/pivot tables/formulas etc).
