An international finance company based in West London seeks an Assistant Manager Accountant to join their busy office.
The role provides support to the Finance Manager in the preparation of financial statements and accounts, budgeting, managing ledgers, processing invoices, preparing for annual audits, preparing VAT returns, and projects. The role liaises with the other business locations in Europe to ensure that statutory and other accounting requirements are met at all times. Knowledge of UK GAAP and Accounting Systems will be needed for this role, as well as fluency in English.
Knowledge of Japanese language and culture would be hugely advantageous for this role.

Type: Full time, permanent
Salary: Up to £48k, depending on experience
Location: London (3 days at home, 2 days in office)
Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am - 5:30pm
Start: ASAP (From May, ideally)


ASSISTANT MANAGER ACCOUNTANT KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist and support monthly reporting for Finance and to ensure that monthly tasks are prepared accurately and to the deadlines
  • Support preparation of monthly reporting packs
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies
  • Review invoices and ensure that they are coded correctly
  • Preparing and updating lead schedules.
  • Updating and reconciliation of Fixed Asset register
  • Preparation of standard and ad-hoc journals
  • Support the corporation tax and to ensure the tax team receive accurate information on a timely basis
  • Assist the preparation of interim and full year group reporting packs as well as financial statements
  • Support the external year-end audit process to ensure a clean audit report
  • Ensure all key processes are documented and that assumptions are regularly reviewed for appropriateness.
  • Assist with process improvements as required
  • Continually review existing reporting and make improvements to the quality of information provided
  • Prepare analysis for overheads and other selected lines for branches
  • Cover the critical tasks of other team members during annual / sick leave
  • Preparing quarterly VAT schedules on timely manner for VAT return submission.
  • Manage the expense process for the branches and report them to the external payroll provider as required
  • Provide support to budgets, and ensure significant items are correctly reported
  • Challenge budget holders on spend to date and obtain full explanations for variances
  • Establish and maintain relationships with offices in Europe and Tokyo headquarters
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management and to meet business needs
  • Comply with company policies and procedures

ASSISTANT MANAGER ACCOUNTANT IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Minimum part qualified ACCA/CIMA or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Strong accounting skills and understanding of accounting operations, accounting systems and UK GAAP
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounting and Finance related roles.
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in the MS Office Package; excellent excel skills.
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in "SAP by Design".
  • Payment Card Industry experience is desirable
  • People management experience or operating to a senior level is desirable.
  • Experience in preparation of balance sheet accounts and works related to financial audit.
  • Demonstrable analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Strong presentation skills, articulate, able to communicate clearly at all levels
  • Resourceful in resolving issues and solving problems, leveraging resources to get results
  • Excellent verbal, written and communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong planning and organising skills
  • Actively pursues learning and self-development to enhance personal, professional and business growth; shares learning
  • Must have a clean credit history and no criminal record
