Key Responsibilities as an SEND?Teaching?Assistant?- ASD:
- Provide one-on-one support to a student with ASD, speech, language, and communication needs, multi-sensory impairment, fine and motor skill difficulty, and moderate learning difficulty
- Assist the student with classwork, homework, and educational activities, working closely with teaching staff to adapt materials as needed
- Collaborate with teaching staff, speech therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualised?Education Plans (IEPs)
- Interpret and adapt lessons to meet the specific needs of the student, ensuring access to the curriculum
- Implement SEND strategy and sensory interventions effectively
- Utilize visual aids, graphic organizers, speech and language resources, and chunking exercises as necessary
- Demonstrate patience, proactivity, and resourcefulness in finding or creating appropriate resources
Qualifications of an SEND?Teaching?Assistant?- ASD:
- Relevant qualifications in special educational needs, or a related field are advantageous
- Previous experience working with students with SEN is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN
- Adaptability to respond to the diverse learning styles and needs of the individual student
- Commitment to promoting inclusivity and advocating for the rights of students with SEN.
