We, GSL Education, are looking for a dedicated?SEND?Teaching Assistant?to join our client school in? Slough. This role provides a unique opportunity to work one-on-one with a student with? ASD,? offering tailored support to meet their specific needs and facilitate their academic and personal growth. 

By working one-on-one with a student with?ASD, you will have the privilege of witnessing their unique abilities and strengths flourish. Your guidance will not only help them excel academically but also nurture their social and communication skills, fostering a sense of belonging, self-confidence, and independence. As an SEND?Teaching?Assistant?- ASD,?you will be at the heart of a transformative educational experience, making a profound and lasting difference in the life of your student, and in the wider community that benefits from your dedication and expertise. 

Key Responsibilities as an SEND?Teaching?Assistant?- ASD:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a student with ASD, speech, language, and communication needs, multi-sensory impairment, fine and motor skill difficulty, and moderate learning difficulty 
  • Assist the student with classwork, homework, and educational activities, working closely with teaching staff to adapt materials as needed 
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, speech therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualised?Education Plans (IEPs) 
  • Interpret and adapt lessons to meet the specific needs of the student, ensuring access to the curriculum 
  • Implement SEND strategy and sensory interventions effectively 
  • Utilize visual aids, graphic organizers, speech and language resources, and chunking exercises as necessary 
  • Demonstrate patience, proactivity, and resourcefulness in finding or creating appropriate resources 


Qualifications of an SEND?Teaching?Assistant?- ASD:

  • Relevant qualifications in special educational needs, or a related field are advantageous 
  • Previous experience working with students with SEN is highly desirable 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN 
  • Adaptability to respond to the diverse learning styles and needs of the individual student 
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and advocating for the rights of students with SEN.
