Teaching Assistant | Chadwell Heath

Tradewind are currently working in partnership with a modern three-entry school based near Chadwell Health. The school are searching for an experienced teaching assistant, who has a nurturing nature to easily build a rapport with a Year 3 child with Autism. Starting at the start of May 2024, the role will last until the end of the academic year. Therefore, you will have to be available to work full-time (5 days a week) until the end of July 2024.

The successful teaching assistant will be confident working with children, have experience working in primary schools and will have worked with children or adults with SEN (such as Autism, ADHD or those with a Physical Disability). With a caring and encouraging ethos and environment, the school intend for each child and staff member to embrace the love of learning and have high expectations of themselves.

With ample on-site parking and train stations and bus stops nearby, the primary school is easily accessible both by car and public transport.

How will you be supporting?

  • Providing support to a Year 3 child with Autism
  • Managing behaviour throughout the course of the day, focusing on positive behaviour management strategies
  • Supporting the pupil with classwork, organising by the teacher
  • Mark children's work and monitor their progress
  • Working closely with the pupil's parents, class teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator
  • Supporting the teacher with the preparation for and delivery of lessons

Requirements:

  • Have experience working within a primary school as a Teaching Assistant
  • Experience working with children with SEN (such as Autism, ADHD or those with a physical disability)
  • Ideally, hold either a degree or a teaching assistant qualification
  • Confident working with pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Hold a valid up to date clean DBS check on the update service, or be in a position to apply for one through Tradewind
  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Live in the UK
