Overview

Our Wedding Planner Diploma has been exclusively authored by the gentleman who organised Madonna and Guy Ritchies spectacular wedding and also Robbie Williams' 30th birthday party!

This Wedding Planner Course programme can become your handbook or 'best friend' until the big day and be used as a checklist to be sure you have thought of each and every minor detail! The Wedding Planner course is a practical programme where you are learning to become a qualified Wedding Planner. This course is also suitable if you are planning your own wedding. It is important to understand the background in which a Wedding Planner operates and what are the national trends for marriage ceremonies in the UK. The Office for National Statistics provides up-to-date information on wedding trends. People are putting off getting married until they are older; according to recent figures released by the Office of National Statistics the average age for the first marriage is 31 for women and 29 for men. Less people are getting married; In 2006 the number of marriages fell by 4% compared with the year before. The long-term picture in the United Kingdom is one of decline, although Northern Ireland has seen a small increase.

There are more people getting married for the second time; In 2006 remarriages accounted for 39% of all marriages, with 61% of marriages being the first marriage for both partners. Civil Ceremonies have increased in popularity; since 1992 there have been more civil ceremonies in England and Wales than religious ceremonies. In 2006 civil ceremonies accounted for 66% of all ceremonies. With the cost of an average wedding in 2008 estimated at £20,273 by You and Your Wedding magazine it becomes essential for brides and their relations to ensure that they are getting the best value for their money and need to ensure that everything goes to plan during one of their most expensive outlays during the couples life. The wedding industry is made up of multiple small enterprises like caterers, venues, dress suppliers, photographers, musicians etc. Whilst the industry itself was valued by the financial firm Brewin Dolphin at £4.2 billion, each of the components is smaller, likely to be local and privately owned. This highly diverse market coupled with the large sums of money that are spent on creating wedding celebrations means that the role of the Wedding Planner takes on great importance. This Wedding Planner course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to plan every aspect of the perfect Wedding.

At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
