Overview

Learn how to design and build a website to a basic level and understand how the web works. This course will introduce you to professional software for web design; Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop to create interactive products. You do not need previous experience but you must be reasonably confident using word processing software for computers, such as Word. You must also be familiar with using the internet.

Description

You will create a small website in Dreamweaver. You will learn about the Dreamweaver interface, how to set up a site, creating hyperlinks, inserting text and images, tables and Divs, FTP, editing and uploading your site. You will also get an introduction to CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
You’ll work with Photoshop and Fireworks to design web products and optimise images for the web and you may also be encouraged to use PowerPoint to develop ideas.
Finally, you will learn how the web works, what are the legal constraints and the professional practice that applies to designing a website as well as how to upload and edit your website.

This is a Level 1 Award in Interactive Media for beginners. You should be confident in using a computer. We use MACS at WAES so PC users may find the course more difficult. You will not be able to do this course if you do not have good computer skills.
