Course details

This top-up degree comprises 120 credits (equivalent to one year's full-time university study).

Stage 3 (120 credits)
You’ll explore professional standards in childcare, health and education, and their impact on children’s lives; with a strong emphasis on children’s wellbeing and rights, and their participation in all areas of society. Finally you’ll learn how to design your own research project, investigating different methods and theories and the particular challenges posed by researching this area. 

Compulsory modules (120 credits)
  • Working together for children (KE312)

    Gain the skills and knowledge essential for working with children aged 0 – 12, focusing on listening to children, promoting children's well being and multi-agency working.

  • Issues in research with children and young people (EK313)

    Examine the research process through studies with young children, children and young people carried out in the fields of education, health and social care.

Classification of your degree

On successfully completing this undergraduate course, you'll be awarded the BA (Honours) Childhood and Youth Studies degree. You'll have the opportunity to attend a degree ceremony.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
