Description

The PTLLS Level 3/4 qualifications is for anyone wishing to teach or train adults and is the most up to date Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) certificate. The qualification covers those training in college environments as well as in the workplace.

Candidates on the PTLLS teacher training course are assessed by assignments, theory and a practical 15 minute Microteach presentation. You also choose whether you complete the certificate at either Level 3 or 4 standard.

Course Outline

  • Understand your own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching
  • Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within a specialist area
  • Demonstrate your session planning skills – plan, deliver, observe and evaluate a micro-teaching session
  • Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions that motivate learners
  • Understand the use of different assessment methods
  • Understand and analyse the need for accurate record keeping and procedures that can be adopted – including internal and external assessment information

TAQA – Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance

This is a new suite of qualifications which replaces the A1 and A2 assessor awards and the V1 internal verifier award. These practitioner qualifications are designed to support the assessment and quality assurance of all new QCF qualifications including: Apprenticeships, Functional Skills, Technical Certificates, NVQ’s, Awards, Certificates and Diplomas.

Level 3 – Assessing

This course has been designed to train you in the practical skills needed to support the assessment process of all new QCF qualifications. There are no tests or exams, instead you will be supported to build a portfolio of evidence including examples of your candidates work, assessment plans, feedback, questions about assessing and professional discussions with your assessor. You will have a personal tutor who guides you through the course, providing feedback at every stage.

The course is completed entirely at your own pace however, we do have the option of fast track available. This route has proven popular with those already in employment and wishing to progress quickly.

Level 4 – Verifying

This course has been designed to train you in the practical skills needed to support the quality assurance process of all new QCF qualifications. It will enable you to quality assure assessment practice as well as lead a team of quality assurance staff such as other IV’s and Assessors. As above, this course is completed entirely at your own pace but we do have the option of fast track available.

Requirements

This qualification is open to candidates at any age, of either gender and there are no entry barriers on the grounds of race, creed or academic attainment in learning. These qualifications are designed for learners aged 19 and above. There are not any specific prior learning requirements for these qualifications though learners may find it helpful if they have achieved a level 2 qualification.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
