Overview

The TEFL Academy only offers one course which leads to a 120 Hour TEFL Certificate. This is because most employers, especially those paying good salaries, will expect you to have completed 120 hours of TEFL tuition. Employers will also expect a significant portion of your TEFL qualification to be face to face (not purely online). This is why our course includes 20 hours in the classroom and 100 hours of online study. Courses are based in Central London and 26 locations throughout the UK!

This combined approach will mean your qualification will be internationally recognised. On successful completion of the course you will be qualified to teach English both abroad and in the UK. Our unique course structure means you will be qualified to teach both children and adults.

The aim of the 20 Hour Weekend Classroom Course is to take you through all the basics of TEFL. You will get the opportunity to learn through group work and gain peer to peer teaching experience. The classroom course will build your confidence to a level where you would feel comfortable standing up in front of your first class.

Following on from the initial weekend training the online portion of the course covers the theory of TEFL in more detail, such as teaching methods and grammar. The online course consists of 10 coursework assessed modules. You have up to 12 months to complete the online course, but the average student completes the course within 4-6 weeks.

Our course is designed to cover every aspect of teaching English from planning your first lesson to applying for your first job abroad. Our modules are designed in order to give you maximum intake of information in the shortest time frame. This technique allows us to offer one of the most in depth TEFL courses available in the UK.

To maximise your chances of employment we guarantee our students a voluntary teaching placement in the UK (optional). You will get the opportunity to practice what you have learnt on the course and gain vital real life experience in teaching English. We have special relationships with various charitable and voluntary organisations throughout the UK. This placement could be teaching either children or adults and you can volunteer for as long or as little as you wish (dependant on availability). Your 120 Hour TEFL Certificate and practical experience will make you highly employable.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
