Overview

Uplatz offers in-depth and extensive training on SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay module. This is video-based online course (self-paced training). You will be awarded Course Completion Certificate at the end of the course.

SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay is an SAP module under the HCM suite which helps employers in calculating the employee’s bonuses based on the performance within a given period of time. It makes it easy to calculate the bonuses of employees with the help of quantitative work of the business and employees in the period allotted.

Variable Pay is a type of employee compensation that varies, as opposed to salary, which is paid in equal proportions throughout the year. It's often used as part of an overall compensation strategy to recognize and reward an individual, team or group based on achievements/contributions. Thus in essence, Variable Pay deals with variable pay bonus programs, typically known as the corporate bonus programme or STI.

SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay module facilitates the administration of sophisticated bonus calculations that include quantitative business performance and employee performance measures. At an elevated level, it's a solution that provides a streamlined bonus planning and payout process.

The SuccessFactors Variable Pay module addresses complex bonus calculations that are based on one or more of the following goals:

  • Individual goals

  • Team goals

  • Business/Group goals (can have more than one)

There is a separate section for each goal type with relevant weightings and multipliers. A History file enables you to import the assignments for an employee for the entire bonus period. Employees could have multiple rows within the History file if there was a change that could affect their bonuses.

Variable Pay allows you to perform separate calculations for different time periods in a same year. You can perform separate calculation for employees who move from one business unit, division, or location to another. All of the separate calculations are then summed up to calculate one final payout amount.

It is not necessary to have Employee Central to implement Variable Pay. In order to get employee data in Variable Pay we can have integration with Employee Central or can import data directly into Variable Pay programs (if Employee Central is available) or can use a hybrid approach, where some of the data comes from Employee Central and some is directly imported.

SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay training by Uplatz will help you attain the skills needed to implement and use variable pay module as an administrator. You will also understand the usage of basic tools for managing pay cycles within the organization besides learning the concepts and terminology of this module in depth.

This SAP SF Variable Pay training provides comprehensive understanding of the concepts and key terminologies of this module and will thus help you to become a top SAP SuccessFactors/HR Consultant.

Forecast results help the compensation administrator compare the annual bonus payout with the accrued bonus expense before the actual payout and address any ‘what-if’ situations. A forecast is produced in both graphical and tabular format to make it more actionable for the reader and empower the business towards strategic decision making. Forecast results improve financial planning and administrative efficiency. A forecast can be viewed department wise, division wise, location wise or Job code wise.

2. Proration of Payouts

Variable Pay calculates incentives based on employee’s performance. It provides the ability to prorate incentive awards when an employee is engaged in different assignments during an evaluation period. This provides a better correlation between Performance and Pay. There can even be a complex scenario where an employee is working on more than one assignment simultaneously, and is thus involved in more than one bonus plan throughout the evaluation period.

This can be a tremendous administrative burden for the compensation professionals.

SuccessFactors Variable Pay eases this burden by:

  • Considering employee’s date effective historical records.

  • Determining who is eligible for which bonus plans during which timeframes.

  • Prorating the payouts for each bonus plan.

3. Budget for Discretionary component

Variable Pay offers the ability to budget and track incentive plans, which allows managers to monitor and manage spending and costs. It results in improved budget management, increased administrative efficiency and reduced costs.

There are various options to calculate the budget spent, it can be as a percentage of forecast results, Or by any other parameter.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
