Overview

This three-day first aid at work course offers an interactive experience for your employees. It will provide them with the knowledge and skills required to give basic life support, diagnose and treat a wide range of injuries or illnesses.

This course includes everything that is covered on a one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course and also provides in-depth training in treating a wide range of specific injuries and illnesses.

  • The roles and responsibilities of a first aider.
  • How to minimise the risk of infection to yourself and others.
  • The need for establishing consent to provide first aid.
  • Completing an accident report form.

  • How to quickly assess an incident or emergency situation.
  • Looking after the casualty including what to ask and say.
  • What to do if a casualty is unconscious.
  • The recovery position.
  • Practical life saving CPR skills using a CPR manikin.
  • Recognising when someone is choking and the actions to take.
  • Recognising the symptoms of shock and what to do.
  • How to deal with minor and severe bleeding.

Who is this course for?

In order to establish the first aid requirement within your business, you are legally obliged to carry out a detailed First Aid Needs Analysis.


This risk assessment will help you to identify the level of training your staff require.


This course is perfect for employees who are designated qualified first aiders within your
business.

Requirements

Candidates are not required to have any prior knowledge or qualifications in first aid to enable them to attend this course.


However, it is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 1 in Literacy/English or equivalent to undertake this qualification.


Candidates should be aged 14 or above.
