Overview
This course is designed to give a broad introduction to qualitative research design. You will be exploring different approaches to qualitative research, including ethnography, phenomenology and grounded theory. The student will also be considering ways in which a researcher undertaking qualitative research collects and analyses data using observation and interviewing techniques.
The key points you need to consider to help you critically read and understand published qualitative research will be identified, thereby aiding the student to identify situations in which qualitative research can be used in practice. By the end of this course, the student will be able to plan a research study using a qualitative approach and to write a research proposal for it.

Study Hours
This is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper.
The approximate amount of time required to complete the course is: 120 hrs.

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.
