Overview
Physiological science takes a wide view of the body. It deals with the way in which collections of cells are organised to form organs such as the heart and liver, and the way in which these organs work together in the body.
Even more importantly, physiology emphasises the interaction between these systems, and the way that their activities are adjusted to keep the body functioning as well as possible.
A basic understanding of physiology is necessary for anyone working in a medical field, as it allows the student to understand how to help people to make the most of their bodies' natural physiology enables us to understand what happens when imbalance occurs and how health care aims to restore balance.
