Combining your studies using home study and attending a practical workshop in a state of the art training salon could provide the perfect solution. 

This course will provide you with all the necessary skills & training required to gain your official NVQ. fully accredited by VCTC & recognised by HABIA qualified students are able to work within the beauty sector or indeed work self employed.

This course provides successful students with a qualification from VTCT, listed on the QCF (qualifications and credit framework) database. VTCT is recognised as an awarding organisation by the qualification regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who are: the office of the qualifications and examinations regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Welsh Government and the council for curriculum, examinations and assessment (CCA) in Northern Ireland. Delivered in partnership with My Distance Learning College an accredited NCFE Centre.

Upon succesfull completion of this course students are able to apply for membership of two professional associations. 

BABTAC - British Association of Beauty therapy & Cosmetology

The primary association for professional beauty therapists in the UK. Recognised as one of the most influential and longest standing governing bodies within this sector. BABTAC has been active for over 30 years and graduates of this NVQ are eligible to join if required. Membeship allows you to use the BABTAC log on any advertising reassuring clients of your professionalism and qualification.

The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists

Established in 1994  with over 5000 members who work to a strict code of ethics. Students are automatically eligible for membership. Description

Mandatory Units: 40 Credits

All units below to be completed - Total 32 Credits

Follow health & safety practice in the salon
Client care & communication in beauty related industries
Provide facial skincare
Remove hair using waxing techniques
Provide eyelash and brow treatments
Provide manicure treatments
Provide pedicure treatments

Optional Units: 

Optional units - 8 Credits minimum required

Apply make up - 5 Credits
Salon reception duties - 3 Credits
Apply skin tanning techniques - 4 Credits
Instruction on make up application - 5 Credits
Provide ear piercing - 2 Credits
Provide threading services for hair removal - 4 Credits
Remove hair using sugaring - 4 Credits
Provide nail art - 3 Credits
Provide eyelash perming - 2 Credits
Display stock to promote sales in salon - 3 Credits

Students will complete a series of theory based assignments & portfolio work combined with a 5 day practical workshop in a state of the art training centre based in Rotherham. South Yorkshire. 

We understand that travelling to rotherham for the training can be difficult for some, so we have arranged with a local hotel to accomodate you for the duration of the practical workshop at no additional charge. Now there's an offer you can't refuse!

Please be advised to assist with the preperation of your portfolio students will be required to carry out various tasks on friends and family at home during this course.  

 

Receipt of Certification: Certification is awarded by VTCT and can take up to 12 weeks to be received afer completion of your studies. All certification will be delivered to students direct at their home address. UK Open College have no control over delivery of certification awarded by the external awarding bodies. Any outstanding fees are payable before certification is issued. 

 

 

Requirements

Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

Be aged 16 Years or above Possess a solid knowledge of the english language

Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course

Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc

Have a genuine desire to succeed
