NCTJ newspaper diploma structure
There is only one NCTJ diploma. It is made up of six compulsory core subjects. These are:
- Essential PA
- Media law and regulation
- Reporting
- Shorthand
- Ethics
- ePortfolio
The type of diploma you achieve depends which two specialist options you choose:
- Broadcast journalism
- Business of magazines
- Media law court reporting
- Production journalism (magazine or newspaper)
- Videojournalism for online
- Sports journalism
The suggested subject package for this course
Six core subjects, plus compulsory Media law court reporting, and Videojournalism for online.
You can do another combination of the specialist options if you want to.
You can also do additional specialist options to improve your CV.

Requirements
