TQUK Level 3 Award in Education & Training (AET)

This qualification replaces the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

It is an introductory, knowledge-based teaching qualification that has no minimum teaching practice requirement, meaning it can be undertaken by individuals who are not in a teaching role. However, there is a minimum requirement to take part in micro teaching.

Description

The TQUK Level 3 Award in Education and Training provides an introduction to teaching and comprises three units:

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Understanding assessment in education and training

There is a minimum requirement for trainee teachers to engage in observed and assessed micro teaching for the following optional unit:

  • Unit 02 - Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training.

For this unit, you must be involved in at least one hour of micro teaching. You are expected to must deliver at least one 15 minute micro teaching session that is observed and assessed by a member of the delivery team. For the additional 45 minutes you can either deliver additional micro teaching sessions or observe the micro teaching sessions of other trainee teachers. However, Trainee teachers who are currently teaching may prefer to use their practice instead of micro teaching to meet the requirements of this unit.

* You will need to pay for the assessment and certification of all three units. Payment of £150 in total is required at the point of submission of coursework for all three units to be assessed and certificated.

Who is this course for?

It can be undertaken by individuals who are not in a teaching role or those working as trainers, tutors, assessors, internal verifier and instructors without teaching or training qualification.

Requirements

Candidates will be expected to have the followings:

  • a good of standard of Literacy and Numeracy
  • a level of industry knowledge appropriate for a person working at a level 3.
  • There will be an initial assessment in order to ensure that the candidate have a good standard of Literacy and Numeracy.
  • It is suitable for learners aged 19 and above.

It provides training for those individuals who aspire to, or hold, a teaching role with an extensive range of teaching or training responsibilities, including those in more than one context i.e. further, higher, adult or community education or work-based learning.
