Description

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) is a requirement for anyone looking to work in a Teaching role in an associate position. This role carries less responsibility than that of a full teaching role. The qualification is designed for individuals teaching in both the private training industry and in educational institutes.
It is a nationally recognised qualification which allows you to progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training, bringing you closer to being able to gain your QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills).

The guided learning hours for this course is 140 – 204 hours. As the course assignments are all complete on-line students may study completely at their own pace and will be required to have access to 30 hours of teaching practice whilst on the course, if you have done any teaching in the past 3 months we may be able to take this into consideration. You will be observed for a total of 3 hours during your course, we can come to your location to complete observation at no extra cost. Alternatively you can be observed by one of your colleagues as long as they are suitably qualified. A suitably qualified colleague would hold a PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent.

Mo Khalil asked:

I have L3 AET from Highfield and would like to complete L4 CET. What are the fees? And what the excluded units from L4 CET (6 units) as I hold L3 AET?

Answer:

Hi Mo Khalil, Students who enrol on the CET and already hold the AET are able to claim RPL to cover the first unit of their CET (our CET Unit A) which is Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training. The fees are still £349. You would need to submit your certification and unit transcript which our tutors would then confirm you RPL. Thank you!

Joanne asked:

How does this qualification compare to the cert ed?.

Answer:

Hi Joanne, A Certification in Education issued by a University is a full teaching qualification. The Certificate in Education is aimed primarily at persons with existing degrees who wish to teach in university. The CET is aimed at those who wish to deliver pre-planned material to learners, for example in the police force, the first aid sector, etc. Thank you!

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
