Overview

The CACHE Level 3 Diploma is suitable for people who are working as a teaching assistant. learning support assistant or those in similar roles at Level 3 in the school environment. Progression through the units will offer you opportunities to gain experience and develop skills.  Successfully completion of the course will enable you to access a range of career opportunities within the school as well as progressing to other related qualifications.

Description

The content of this course reflects the increasing professionalism of the support assistant's role. This qualification will provide learners with a secure understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working with children or young people in a school environment.

The course consists of 11 Mandatory units that between them allow the learner to achieve the 32 credits  plus 12 credits from a range of specialist optional units to acheive the Diploma. The mandatory units cover:

  • Children and young people's development
  • Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
  • Safeguarding the wellbeing of children and young people
  • The importance of equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Supporting positive behaviour
  • Supporting learners in the classroom
  • Understanding the role of schools as learning organisations within the community

The options units taken will depend on your job role within the sector and your assessor will guide you in your choice, as there are also a required cominations of units.

Requirements

You will need to show that you are:

  • 18 or over at the beginning of the course
  • GCSE in English Language or equivalent, at grade C or above
  • Relevant Level 2 qualification in Childcare or at least 6 months experience in school supporting  class teacher Key Stage 1 or above for at least 2 days per week.
  • Clear enhanced DBS check.
  • Employment/voluntary placement in school 2 days a week.
