Year 2 Units:
- Unit 3: Information Systems
- Unit 6: Software Design and Development
- Unit 11: Systems Analysis and Design
- Unit 14: Event Driven Programming
- Unit 18: Database Design
- Unit 22: Developing Games
Functional Skills and/or GCSE – Mathematics and English
Your study programme may include two additional qualifications over the two year programme to achieve further competence and skills in Mathematics and English.
Requirements
4 GCSEs at Grade A*-C including English and Maths or a Level 2 qualification in IT at Distinction plus GCSEs at grades A*-C in English and Maths. All applicants will be interviewed. Places on the Level 3 Diploma are subject to minimum grade requirements as well as BKSB assessments in English and Maths and free hand writing exercises to be held during the induction period.
Career path
Students who successfully complete the BTEC Level 3 Diploma IT (Software Development) will be able to progress to a higher education course at New College Durham or at University. Distinctions in all assignments will account for up to 280 UCAS points. Students wishing to apply to a specific University are advised to check their eligibility criteria.
