Overview

With the constant changes within Health and Safety legislation, it has never been more important to ensure compliance in this field. Contravening this legislation can result in prosecution, with the possibility of an unlimited fine or even imprisonment.

All employers are required to have the correct systems in place to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for employees and any other people who may be affected by their business activities. Through achievement of one of our health and safety qualifications, employees will develop the appropriate knowledge and attitude to contribute to an organisation’s continued compliance.

Resources

Description

The aim of the HABC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace qualification is to provide candidates with knowledge of the basic Health and Safety practices that are essential in the workplace. This includes the hazards and risks presented in the workplace along with the relevant legislation, and ensures awareness of cost-effective, practical control methods.

The qualification is applicable for any private or public sector working environment and provides employees with an awareness of their own safety, as well as the safety of customers, contractors and members of the public.

The achievement of the HABC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace qualification will enable learners to work safely and to recognise and deal with hazards in the workplace.

The Ofqual approved HABC Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace qualification has been developed specifically for insertion onto the Qualifications and Credit Framework with full support from Proskills. It is therefore fully cognisant with industry and regulatory standards as well as being recognized by The Health and Safety Executive, Auditors and other Enforcement Officers.

This qualification is achieved by taking a one day classroom based course. It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the candidates must answer atleast 20 out of 30 questions correctly. The examination will take a maximum of 1 hour to complete.

Upcoming open courses are inclusive of tuition, examination fees and a course handbook. Free follow up support will also be available from your tutor.

Requirements

To register on to this qualification, learners are required to meet the following entry requirements:

  • 14 years of age or above
  • Have a basic level of English.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
