Overview

This short course is for anyone who has to carry out Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) risk assessments in the workplace.

It provides knowledge of the COSHH risk assessment process as well as the skills required to undertake a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.

Description

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 require employers to control exposure to hazardous substances to prevent ill health.

The British Safety Council Certificate in COSHH Risk Assessment course is delivered over one day and aims to provide supervisors and employees with the knowledge of the COSHH risk assessment process as well as the skills required to undertake a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.

On completion of the course, delegates will:

  • Understand the importance of COSHH risk assessments
  • Know the main types of hazardous substance and how they may cause harm
  • Understand the principles of controlling the risks from hazardous substances
  • Understand how a COSHH risk assessment is undertaken.

Assessment
