Description

The AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping is an entry-level qualification to learn manual bookkeeping skills. It introduces you to the role of bookkeepers, in particular the essential skills in single-entry bookkeeping.

You will learn the following topics:

  1. Understanding the role of bookkeeper
  2. Understanding financial transactions
  3. Processing customer and supplier transactions
  4. Processing receipts and payments

Assessment

The unit is assessed by Computer-Based Assessments (CBA). The CBAs are flexible and can be taken at any time. We are an approved AAT CBA centre and offer a flexible CBA service on weekday, weekends and evenings.

Course duration

The duration of the course can range from 1 to 3 months depending on your methods of study – full or part time. We offer evening sessions (3 hours each) and day sessions (6 hours each) including weekends. The teaching hours do not include the final assessment.

This course is for anyone who is interested to pursue career in accounting and finance, and has basic maths and English language skills.

Requirements

There is no entry criteria or work experience required for this course. It is advisable to have English language proficiency and a relevant level of math skills. This course is ideal if you are leaving school or college, returning to work or simply want to change your career.

After this qualification you can further progress to level 2 bookkeeping/accounting or using accounting software level 1 & 2.
