Description

Do you want to improve your English speaking and writing?

Do you love good music?

If so, this course is for you.

This courses uses elements of Daft Punk's latest album, Random Access Memories to help you up your English level.

First, you'll listen to a clip from the song Giorgio by Moroder. You'll hear the story of how the artist Giorgio Moroder made his dream of being a musician happen. He uses an interesting choice of words in his story, and you'll expand your vocabulary and understanding of phrasal verbs by studying what he says.

Then, you'll do a writing assignment that gets you to use phrasal verbs and tell the story of your professional dream.

Next, you'll watch a Daft Punk video, learn more vocabulary and clarify the difference between intrigued and intrriguing (and other 'ed'/'ing' adjectives).

Your assignment will get you to write with those kinds of adjectives to be sure you understand the difference and can express yourself clearly.

After you've completed your assignments, it's time to work on listening comprehension. You'll learn new vocabulary first, and then listen to Daft Punk themselves. They'll tell you all about the creation of their Grammy-winning album. In this unit, the assignment is to listen carefully and answer 4 comprehension questions. The answers are provided to you, so you can check if you understood correctly.

Finally, you'll work on reading comprehension by reading a Rolling Stone Magazine review of the album. You'll learn new vocabulary before you do the reading. Then, you'll take a quiz about the reading so you know if you understood correctly.

This course gives you a great opportunity to learn new words and phrases and improve your English writing. And, it gives you access to free Google Hangouts so you can improve your English speaking.

If you want to improve your English, you need to take action and use your English!

FAQs

At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
