Overview
You will learn the techniques involved in the design and production of jewellery.
You will also become familiar with the appropriate health and safety regulations to promote good studio practice.
Description
The course content aims to cover a wide range of basic jewellery making skills including:
Designing, drawing, researching, sawing, filing, drilling, soldering, ring making, etching, stone setting, and polishing.
You will produce a pendant, ring and a stone set piece of jewellery as finished pieces alongside a wide range of test pieces.
You are encouraged to develop your own design ideas from personal research and drawings, to produce test pieces exploring techniques and produce a final piece using some of the skills you have learnt.
Requirements
This course is for learners progressing from term 1 BTEC Level 1 Award or complete beginners starting in January.
