Overview

What is ITIL?

ITIL® (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is a best practice framework for IT Service Management. It is based around the idea that IT services in a business should be aligned to the business’s needs and support its core functions.

ITIL® is managed by AXELOS, the best practice advisor formed jointly by the UK government and the business services company Capita. It is used by major organisations such as Microsoft, NASA and the UK’s National Health Service.

ITIL V3 Foundation

Description

ITIL® Foundation:

This ITIL® Foundation course will provide you with everything they need to pass the ITIL® Foundation exam. Through a combination of presentations, exercises and discussions, the course will cover the key principles and concepts of ITIL®, and prepare you for the exam, which is taken on the final day. Passing ITIL® Foundation will allow you to go on to achieve the higher levels of ITIL® qualification.

ITIL® Practitioner:

ITIL® Practitioner is a recently introduced ITIL® qualification designed to be the next step after ITIL® Foundation.

The qualification has been created in response to requests for guidance on the practical implementation of ITIL®; while ITIL® Foundation addresses the fundamentals of ITIL®, it does not cover how to apply these basics. This is where ITIL® Practitioner comes in.

This part of the course builds on foundational ITIL® knowledge by providing the required knowledge to implement the ITIL® framework effectively.

Course Benefits

  • Worth three credits towards the ITIL® Expert qualification
  • Build on previous knowledge gained from ITIL® Foundation
  • Enhance your IT Service Management career prospects
  • Learn how to effectively implement IT Service Management
  • Understand how to use the CSI approach to ITSM

The ITIL® courses on this page are offered by The Knowledge Academy ATO of AXELOS Limited. ITIL® is a registered trade mark of AXELOS Limited. All rights reserved.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
