Overview

This distance learning course in Computerised Payroll combines levels 1 and 2 into a complete, home learning course accredited by the IAB and recognised on the Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF) (QCF numbers: 601/0733/9 and 601/0475/2).

The IAB Computerised Payroll Levels 1 & 2 course covers 4 units of theoretical and practical information on the essential elements of computerised payroll, including the fundamental administration, theory and skills.

After successfully completing this IAB Computerised Payroll course you could apply to the IAB for membership and to use the letters 'AIAB' after your name.

Description

This course consists of three mandatory units. They must all be successfully completed in order to achieve the qualification.

Level 1:
Mandatory unit
Computerised Payroll administration - T5051157 (Level 1 - 4 credits)
Learning outcomes:

  • Be able to set up a computerised payroll system
  • Be able to set up employee records and payroll data in a computerised payroll system
  • Be able to enter details of gross pay into the computerised payroll system
  • Be able to process the payroll
  • Be able to back up and/or restore payroll data
  • Understand statutory requirements for submitting information


Level 2:
Mandatory units
Computerised payroll theory - L5051276 (level 2 - 2 credits)
Learning outcomes:

  • Understand potential health and safety and security risks
  • Maintain the security of data within a computerised environment
  • Understand organisational procedures for processing payroll in a computerised environment
  • Understand the statutory requirements for submitting information


Computerised payroll skills - Y5051278 (level 2 - 4 credits)
Learning outcomes:

  • Be able to process information on starters, leavers and changes to current employees
  • Be able to process payroll accurately on a pay period basis
  • Be able to back up and update systems when required



Assessment

The Level 1 Award in Computerised Payroll is assessed by an examination. The Level 2 Award in Computerised Payroll is assessed by a knowledge test and an examination. The exams can be taken at one of IAB's approved test centres located throughout the UK, and they cost approximately £35. We can assist you in finding a test centre convenient to you.

You must successfully pass all knowledge tests and exams if you wish to gain the formal IAB qualifications. However, if you prefer to study without formal assessment we can provide you with a certificate of achievement proving your completion of the course.

If you choose to register with IAB there will be an additional charge of £75, paid directly to IAB.

Requirements

No previous qualifications or experience are necessary to enrol on this course. However, we do recommend that you have at least some basic numeracy skills in order to successfully complete this course.
